Hideji Kanamori

CCD Tokyo Representative & Global Managing Partner

Cheng Chung Design (Tokyo)

Based in New York and Tokyo, Hideji Kanamori has built over 30 years of international professional experience in architecture and interior design. His work is rooted in a deep reading of cultural context and sense of place, translating these elements into spatial expressions across a wide range of project types, including hotels, restaurants, commercial spaces, and residential projects.

After graduating from Columbia University with Bachelor of Arts in Architecture in New York, he gained practical experience at design studios in the city. He later served as a director at an international architectural firm before joining Super Potato, one of Japan’s most influential interior design practices.

During his 15-year tenure as Design Director at Super Potato, he oversaw the full scope of interior design—from concept development through design development and construction documentation review. His portfolio includes numerous internationally acclaimed projects such as Park Hyatt London River Thames, Park Hyatt Guangzhou, and One at Palm Jumeirah in Dubai, a luxury residential development managed by Dorchester Collection, as well as a wide range of five-star hotels and high-end interior environments.

Through a refined sensitivity to materials, light, scale, and detail, combined with extensive experience on international projects, he continues to pursue the creation of spaces that resonate beyond time and leave a lasting impression.
