Masma Eat Pelawatte

The goal of the project is to transform an existing building into a new fine dining restaurant for Masma Eats, specializing in BBQ meat. The design concept merges modern aesthetics with African artistry, resulting in a dynamic and culturally resonant architectural statement.
One of the most striking features is the bold red corrugated steel façade, which not only enhances visibility but also reflects the vibrancy of the overall design. Its angled form adds a dynamic edge to the building’s profile. Prominently displayed on this façade is the “Masma EAT” signage with a flame graphic, reinforcing the brand and its BBQ specialty.

A well-defined outdoor seating area, featuring a playful mix of blue and yellow chairs, introduces contrast and energy, while a black and yellow metal structure with a glass roof offers partial shade for diners. The use of brick ventilation blocks along the lower portion of the building and side walls adds texture, supports natural airflow, and contributes to a rustic ambiance.

Colour Codes

Both the interior and exterior incorporate warm, aged materials such as metal and brick, creating a welcoming, rustic environment. Greenery and potted plants soften the industrial tone of the steel façade, enhancing the sense of hospitality.
The color palette, particularly the red façade, aligns with the heat and flavor of BBQ, while blue and yellow accents reflect the vibrancy of African design. Bold colors and patterns throughout the space further emphasize the restaurant’s unique identity and create an exciting dining experience.
Masma Eat Pelawatte

Overall, the design offers an immersive and engaging atmosphere that captures attention, reinforces the brand’s character, and thoughtfully reflects both the culinary focus and cultural inspiration of Masma Eats.

"In this project, colour was used to create a unique, exciting dining experience and memorable atmosphere."
