Patch Cafe
The design philosophy centered on a "patchwork" approach, transforming a seemingly chaotic collection of diverse elements into a unified spatial experience, much like a Persian rug. This involved balancing contrasting components within the existing structure to create a meaningful narrative where the past and present interact, reflecting Iran's rich architectural and cultural heritage instead of imposing a singular identity.
Colour was crucial in establishing this identity, functioning as both a unifying and differentiating element. It created a visual language that connected diverse elements while emphasizing their unique characteristics.
Inspired by the diversity found in traditional Iranian architecture like bazaars and mosques, colour defined zones, created contrasts, and evoked emotions to enhance the overall experience, ensuring the space resonated with Iranian identity beyond mere aesthetics.

Colour Codes
Materials like brick, wood, and metal, combined with a carefully chosen colour palette of earthy tones and bold accents, reinforced the patchwork concept and highlighted the transitions between old and new. The interplay of light, shadow, and colour further enhanced spatial contrasts, creating a sense of movement and transformation. Each hue was selected to evoke warmth, depth, and cultural familiarity, grounding the contemporary design in tradition.
The design also engaged with the site's cultural memory by preserving and integrating existing architectural details, accentuated through colour to ensure their continued prominence. Ultimately, this patchwork approach embraced complexity, allowing multiple influences to coexist harmoniously.

By merging tradition and modernity, form and colour, history and innovation, the project became a symbolic reflection of Iranian identity—rooted in heritage yet adaptable to the future.
